Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service will host the UKRO British Rescue Challenge from the 21st-23rd August 2008.
The event will be held in the spectacular location of the University of Stirling.
The campus-based University was founded by Royal Charter in 1967 on the historic Airthrey Estate, close to Bridge of Allan and two miles from Stirling.
The 310 acre campus nestling beneath the Ochil hills has a magnificent loch and the 18th century Airthrey castle at its heart. The main challenge arena will be situated below the Wallace Monument which will form the backdrop to the event and provide a stunning location.
Accomodation for teams and visitors can be provided on site, with team accomodation grouped in units making an ideal location for preparation prior to the event.
All the events including the opening and closing ceremonies will be on the same site as will the trauma and rope rescue challenges.
***PLEASE NOTE***
***TEAM ACCOMMODATION BOOKINGS HAVE NOW CLOSED***
The Stay Alive Road Show will also run during the event.
Safe Drive Stay Alive is a partnership initiative aimed at reducing death and serious injuries, within the younger age group of 16-24 years, on Scotland's roads. It was proposed to further educate young drivers in Scotland by using a more innovative and hard-hitting approach than was already in place.
To this effect, the Roadshow was devised in such a way that it would be full-on, hard-hitting, realistic and highly emotive. The content of the project reflected the findings of statistical evidence, feedback from emergency service personnel, consultation with education officers and road users.
Statistics tell us that young inexperienced drivers are at a far higher risk of being involved in accidents than older more experienced drivers.
The Roadshow aims to educate most 4th, 5th and 6th year pupils and college students, nationally aproximately 15000 students attend each year.
