Fire & Rescue Services throughout the UK are attending more and more technical rescue incidents where personnel are required to call upon skills and resources related to the three disciplines above. In a changing world, firefighters need to adapt and react to new challenges every day in order to protect the population to the best of their ability.
With the introduction of the Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004 and the Fire ( Scotland ) Act 2005 which gives the fire and rescue service statutory responsibility to attend a wider range of emergencies, events such as the UKRO Rescue Challenge allow the development of skills such as these in an interesting and friendly environment where information, techniques and ideas can be exchanged between like minded rescue professionals from all over the country.
