The Trauma Challenge is an exciting and informative event designed to assess the EMT skills of professional firefighters in trauma situations.
In recent years, Firefighters are being faced with more demanding casualty related situations than ever before. Their skills in dealing with casualties at incidents are constantly being put to the ultimate test.
This challenge will allow a team of two personnel to deal with a simulation of a trauma incident using live casualties, critiqued by UKRO assessors.
Through the assessment process during the challenge, casualty care, confidence in medical protocols and inter service liaison will be enhanced.
The objective of the UKRO ‘National Trauma Challenge’ is to develop the Basic Trauma Life Support skills of firefighters and rescue workers to enable them to deal successfully with the vast range of casualty centred incidents.
Firefighters will be assessed on their “life saving” skill during a ten minute, trauma based scenario.
The Trauma Challenge will focus on developing and promoting the life support skills of rescue personnel, which will allow them to fill the therapeutic vacuum until further medical help arrives.
